Chris Greatrex, Artis managing director

SYDNEY IT consulting and application development firm Artis Group has named former Kaz executive Chris Greatrex as its new managing director.

Mr Greatrex was lured home from New York to run the business following founding director Peter Giudes's decision to focus on business growth initiatives, including acquisitions.

An ex-Australian Navy commander, Mr Greatrex spent the past six years with Sirius Computer Solutions in business development.

"That role was specifically for legacy hardware resellers, to help them grow their software and services businesses," he said. "It was a great experience and it was a tough decision to leave.

"I came back for the opportunity to run Artis Group."

While low-key, Artis has built a name for itself in modernising critical business applications. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar.

At the Weather Channel, for example, Artis helped finetune its database serving real-time information to more than 1 million unique browsers a month.
